The Misericordia University baseball team lost to Alvernia, 13-1, in the first round of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference baseball championships, Friday night at Bear Stadium in Boyertown.

Jamie Philippi and Cody Hack both had two hits for the Cougars.

Philippi drove in Chris Messa for MU's lone run in the eighth innings..

Alvernia scored eight runs with two outs to advance to the winner's bracket final against Gwynedd-Mercy, Saturday.

Misericordia will play Centenary in an elimination game, Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
