The Misericordia University field hockey team picked up its first victory of the season with a 3-1 over Susquehanna, Saturday at Muhlenberg.

Laura Leighow, Ashlee Leonard and Jen Lozier all scored for the Cougars while Haley Ellis, Amanda Blank and Heather DiMenno added assists.

Leighow gave MU a 1-0 lead just 1:57 into the game and Susquehanna scored its lone goal two minutes later.

Leonard put the Cougars ahead with 10 minutes remaining in the first period and Lozier added an insurance goal five minutes into the second period.

Ellen Howanitz made three saves in goal as the Cougars improved to 1-1.

MU will host Gwyndd-Mercy in their home opener, Wednesday at 4:00.
