The Misericordia University women's basketball team reached the .500 mark on the standings board Monday night with an impressive 64-54 win over Marywood at the Anderson Center.
There were no enormous runs in the first half for the Cougars. There was only consistency and a willingness to spread the ball around. Jesse Robinson led with seven points—all within the first five minutes of the game.
The Cougars led 32-23 at intermission, and the season's leading scorer, Lacey DeGraw, has hardly touched the ball. For the second time in as many games, DeGraw scored 20 for the Cougars, but just five of those came in the first half.
She exploded after the break, sinking two free throws and a pair of layups without answer. As the game became increasingly physical, the Cougars saw more time at the free throw line, and DeGraw was no exception. She sank six-of-seven on the night.
Courtney Sykes tacked 10 points onto DeGraw's 20. Vanessa Wright, Christine Marks and Robinson each scored eight.
Marks led with seven total rebounds, and Courtney Sykes with three steals.
Marielle Thornsen, the Pacers' leading scorer this season, once again led with 13 points. Mariah Schaeffer and Lizzy Green followed with 11 and 10, respectively.
Amanda Lass nabbed nine rebounds for the Pacers—seven in the first half.
The Cougars play at Wilkes Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. The men's game will follow at 8:00 p.m.
