The Misericordia University women's basketball team fell 49-40 to FDU-Florham Saturday afternoon despite a brilliant 17-point performance from
Jesse Robinson.
The Devils were able to hold leading Cougar scorer,
Lacey DeGraw, to just seven points.
The game remained close in the first half. Neither team commanded greater than a three-point lead, and both defenses played stingy basketball. At the break, the Devils led 17-16.
Courtney Sykes broke an 11-2 Devils run at the start of the second half with a mighty three-pointer, but the damage was already done. Misericordia could never fully regain the momentum of the first half. They trailed by as much as 13.
Robinson led the Cougars with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Courtney Sykes followed with nine points, and
Lindsey Sykes matched with eight boards.
The Cougars (6-6, 3-3) face Rosemont Monday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Center.
