The Misericordia University field hockey team dropped a heartbreaking 3-2 decision in double-overtime at William Paterson, Thursday night.
Courtney Thomas and
Amanda Blank scored for the Cougars while
Haley Ellis and
Kelsey DeBruyne both added assist.
After falling behind 1-0 just 6:07 into the game, the Cougars tied the score less than a minute later on Thomas' second goal of the season with an assist from Ellis.
MU struck quickly in the second half to take a 2-1 lead as Blank scored for the second straight with an assist from DeBruyne at 40:10.
The lead stood until the Pioneers scored off a corner with 15 minutes remaining.
Grace Riker made 11 saves in goal for MU.
The Cougars are 6-7 will host FDU-Florham, Saturday at 1:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
