The Misericordia University softball team split a Freedom Conference doubleheader at Delaware Valley, Tuesday.
MU took the opener, 3-0, but Del Val rallied to win the nightcap, 6-5.
Lindsay Miller and
Nicole Hoskins had two hits in the opener while Hoskins,
Courtney Novajosky and
Hollie Sarnak had RBI's.
Kat Lucenti tossed six shutout innings for the win and
Katie Eiden worked a perfect seventh to pick up a save.
Miller led off the third inning with a single and advanced to second on an error before coming home to score on Hoskins' two-out single.
Nicole Wenner led off the fourth with a walk and Lucenti reached on a fielder's choice and Jillian Castaldi and Miller singled to load the bases.
Novajosky made it 2-0 with a single and
Hollie Sarnak's RBI-groundout ended the scoring.
Hoskins had two hits in the nightcap, including a three-run homer.
Novajosky added two hits and Eiden drilled a two-run homer.
MU built a 5-1 lead after three innings, but Del Val scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Hoskins led off the second with a single and scored on Eiden's two-out, two-run homer.
After Del Val made it 2-1 in the bottom of the second, the Cougars tacked on three runs in the top of the third.
Miller singled to open the inning and moved to third on a sacrifice and a wild pitch. Sarnak walked and
Gina Urbon reached on a fielder's choice before Hoskins drilled a three-run homer.
Misericordia, 8-6/2-2 Freedom, will visit Neumann for a non-conference twinbill, Wednesday.
