The Misericordia University softball team swept a non-league doubleheader at Lycoming, Thursday.
The Cougars scored four runs in the top of the sixth to win the opener, 5-2, and pounded out 16 hits to take the nightcap, 8-1.
Courtney Novajosky and
Hollie Sarnak had three hits in the opener and
Nicole Hoskins had a two-run double to give MU the lead in sixth.
Kat Lucenti scattered seven hits to pick up the win.
MU took a 1-0 lead in the first when Novajosky drew a leadoff walk and came around to score on Sarnak's double.
After Lycoming scored in the first and fourth innings to take a 2-1 lead, the Cougars mounted a four-run rally in the sixth.
Sarnak and Wenner singled and Hoskins two-run double gave the Cougars a 3-2 lead. Castaldi's sacrifice fly made it 4-2.
After singles from
Maria Kidron and
Gina Urbon, Novajosky's two-out hit made it 5-2.

Nicole Wenner and winning pitcher
Katie Eiden all had three hits while
Lindsay Miller and
Jillian Castaldi added two hits each.
MU jumped ahead 1-0 in the first and used a four-run third to break open a 1-1 game.
Eiden tossed a six-hitter and struck out four.
Miller singled and stole second and scored on Sarnak's single in the first.
Lycoming tied it their half of the first and the Cougars went ahead for good in the third. Novajosky and Sarnak singled and Wenner, Eiden, Castaldi and Kidron all followed with RBI-singles.
MU added an insurance run on Castaldi's single in the fifth and Wenner ended the scoring with an RBI-single in the sixth.
Misericordia is 17-11 and will host Eastern in a Freedom Conference twinbill, Saturday at 1:00.
