Kat Lucenti and
Katie Eiden both tossed shutouts to lead the Misericordia University softball team a 2-0, 3-0, sweep over Eastern, Saturday afternoon at Anderson Field.
Lucenti allowed five hits and struck out four in the opener while Eiden tossed a three-hitter and had 11 strikeouts in the nightcap.
Courtney Novajosky had two doubles in the opener and
Nicole Hoskins and
Jillian Castaldi both added two hits.
Eiden drilled a two-run homer in the second game and Hoskins added a solo shot.
In the opener,
Maria Kidron's single scored Castaldi with the game's first run with two outs in the fourth.
MU added an insurance run in the fifth when Novajosky doubled and scored on
Hollie Sarnak's sacrifice fly.
Hoskins put the Cougars ahead in game two with a solo homer to right center in the second inning.
Eiden drilled a two-run shot to the same spot in the fourth.
Misericordia improved to 19-11 overall and 10-4 in the Freedom Conference.
The Cougars will host Scranton in a non-league doubleheader, Sunday at 1:00.
