Misericordia men's soccer coach Chuck Edkins won the 200th game of his storied career as MU defeated Baptist Bible 7-0 despite a frustrating start.

The Cougars were on the attack from the start, but Baptist Bible survived the early barrage. Despite holding a 21-3 advantage in shots for the first half, MU was held scoreless until the final minutes of the period.

Just two minutes into the first half, Nick Ferguson was saved point-blank off a throw-in by BBC goalkeeper Tony Morrison, and Kevan Nagle's rebound was cleared as well. Ten minutes later, Nagle was saved again after a nice through ball from Ferguson, and then Tim Bullis headed just wide a few minutes after that.

Misericordia survived a scare when Baptist Bible counter-attacked and nearly put sophomore Josiah Mantz through, but his breakaway shot was blocked.

The Cougars finally took the lead in the 43rd minute, when a great through ball from Joey Scanlon found senior Josh Yoo for his first goal of the season.

The second half began as the first had, with the Cougars missing several near chances, including a great save by Morrison on Jay-P Evans.

But goals from Ferguson, Scanlon and Yoo soon put the game away for Misericordia, allowing for a fun ending to a milestone game at Mangelsdorf Field.

Yoo completed a hat trick to make the final score 7-0, after a pair of young Cougars had scored their first goals in a Misericordia uniform. Sophomore Matt Scott scored on a breakaway and freshman Bryce Houdeshel finished from close range after classmate Greg Korhonen had headed off the crossbar.

A trio of senior goalkeepers combined for the shutout- Andrew Loyd, Lurae Brophy and Philip Schultes. Morrison made 11 saves for Baptist Bible.

MU finished with 41 shots and a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. The Cougars are now 2-3-1 on the season and travel to Scranton on Wednesday.
