Samantha Sorokas had two goals and an assist to lead the Misericordia University field hockey team to a 4-2 win at Manhattanville in their Freedom Conference opener, Saturday.
Camilla Hansen had a goal and an assist and
Jen Lozier added a goal for the Cougars.
Lozier gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 15:05.
After the Valiants tied it two minutes into the second half, Sorokas gave MU a 2-1 lead with an assist from Hansen just two minutes later.
Sorokas returned the favor on Hansen's goal to make it 3-1 with 13 minutes to play.
Manhattanville answered two minutes later and Sorokas added an insurance goal with an assist from
Kelsey DeBruyne with less four minutes remaining.
Grace Riker made one save to earn the win in goal.
MU improved to 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the Freedom. The Cougars will host Montclair, Tuesday at 7:00.
