Every Cougar player scored at least five points as the Misericordia University women's basketball team cruised to a 94-41 victory over Penn College, Monday night in the Anderson Center.

The 53-point margin of victory was one of the largest in program history, and the most points scored by a Cougar team since January 18, 1997.

All five MU freshman scored at least eight points, led by Caitlin Sweeney (16) and Kayla Sileo (11). Katie Drayton was in double-figures with 10 points (to go with a team-high eight rebounds), Tyann McDaniel chipped in nine points and Alivia Richter had eight.

For the veteran players, sophomores Christine Marks (11 points) and Jesse Robinson (10 points) were in double-figures. Senior Bernadette Guy had a game-high seven assists while Courtney Sykes and Vanessa Wright each had seven points in limited minutes.

Wright opened the scoring with a three-pointer, and it would be almost five minutes before the Wildcats had their first field goal. The Cougars brought an early full-court press and were able to force turnovers on six of Penn College's first eight possessions.

After lighting up the Wildcats in their first meeting this year, Sweeney was again on fire in the first half. A pair of threes midway through the period stretched the MU lead to 21-7, and two long-range baskets with around three minutes remaining put the Cougars up by 25.

Drayton sunk a shot from the left corner in the waning seconds of the half, and Misericordia took a 43-12 lead into the break.

The scoring barrage continued in the second half, with the Cougars shooting 47.1% from behind the arc in the final period.

MU improves to 10-7 with the victory, and will resume Freedom Conference play this Saturday with a trip to Delaware Valley.
