The Misericordia University baseball dropped a doubleheader at first-place DeSales, 4-0, 9-4, Saturday.
In the opener,
Jeff Slanovec doubled and
Kenny Durling and
Andrew Yasinski added hits for the Cougars.
Jamie Philippi scattered eight hits over five innings while absorbing the loss.
DeSales scored three times in the third and added an insurance run in the fourth.
Andrew Tressa had two doubles in the nightcap and
Chris Tuttle added two hits, including a solo homer.
Pat Clark allowed just three earned runs while suffering the loss as DeSales took advantage of four MU errors.
Trailing 4-0 in the third, the Cougars got on the board when Philippi singled and came around to score on Tressa's double.
After DeSales went ahead 8-1 after four, Tuttle made it 8-2 with his solo homer in the fifth.
The Cougars added a pair of runs in the seventh when
Zach Myers scored on a wild pitch and Slanovec singled to drive in
Bubba Jasinski who had doubled.
Misericordia fell to 14-14 overall and 4-11 in the Freedom Conference. The Cougars host Marywood in a non-conference game, Monday.
