Maria Kidron robbed Arcadia of a game-tying three-run homer to end the game and give the Misericordia University softball team a sweep at Arcadia, Tuesday.
After taking the opener, 3-2, the Cougars took a 5-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh in the nightcap and Kidron ended up going over the fence to make the catch and preserve the win.
Ashley Ballard drilled a three-run homer for the Cougars and
Hollie Sarnak added a two-run blast.
Nicole Hoskins had three hits, including a double.
MU took a 2-0 lead in the first when
Courtney Novajosky led off with a single and Sarnak ripped a two-run homer.
The Cougars made it 5-0 in the fourth when Hoskins and
Gina Urbon singled and came home on Ballard's three-run dinger.
Lucenti allowed just one hit over four innings to pick up the win and
Caitlin Cromley worked the final three innings.
In the opener, Novajosky had two of MU's four hits, including a game-winning solor homer in the top of the seventh.
Trailing 1-0, the Cougars tied the score in the top of the fifth. After Nicole Boccia walked, Ballard pinch-ran and moved up on a wild pitch and
Jen Cory's sacrifice before scampering home when Novajosky reached on an error.
Arcadia went ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the inning, but the Cougars tied it again in the top of the sixth.
Nicole Hoskins doubled to right and gave way to her sister,
Maggie, as a pinch-runner. Cromley singled to make it 2-2 and Novajosky drilled the game-winner in the top of the seventh.
Lucenti scattered seven hits to pick up the win.
MU is 16-13 and will host Albright, Wednesday at 3:00.
