The Misericordia University softball swept a non-conference doubleheader from Albright, 3-2, 5-3, Wednesday at Anderson Field.

Hollie Sarnak, Nicole Wenner and Nicole Hoskins all had two hits in the opener to back the six-hit pitching of Caitlin Cromley.

MU took a 1-0 in the bottom of the first when Sarnak led off with a single and eventually scored on a double by Hoskins.

The Cougars made it 3-0 in the second when Ballard reached on an error and advanced to third on Gina Urbon's single down the rightfield line.

After Urbon stole second, Kristi McCluskey drove in Ballard with a single to left and moved to second when Urbon was thrown out at home. McCluskey went to third on a ground out and scored on Sarnak's single.

Albright scored both of its runs in the top of the third.

In the nightcap, Maria Kidron, Wenner, Cromley and Nikki Boccia all had two hits.

Wenner and Boccia both doubled and Hoskins drilled a two-run homer.

Kat Lucenti worked six innings to get the win and Karissa Kross pitched the seventh to earn the save.

After Albright jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, MU responded with three runs in their half of the first.

Kidron singled with one out and moved to third on Wenner's double. After an RBI-groundout by Hoskins, Cromley singled and Boccia drove in two runs with a double.

Hoskins made it 4-2 with a solo homer in the third.

Albright pulled within 4-3 in the fifth, but the Cougars responded with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Kidron singled and stole second and went to third on Hoskins fly out to center. Cromley dropped down a bunt and Kidron scored after being cut in a rundown between third and home.

MU, 18-13, will host Delaware Valley, Saturday.
