The Misericordia University baseball team dropped a non-league game to Alvernia, 20-6, Tuesday.
Andrew Tressa and
Jamie Philippi had two hits and
Anthony Goncalves had a double for the Cougars.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when
Nate Hamlin led off with a walk and Tressa was hit by a pitch. After both runners moved up on a wild pitch, Hamlin scored on
Nate Newman's groundout and Tressa came home on a passed ball.
Alvernia tied it in the top of the second and went ahead 7-2 in the fourth.
MU got two back in the bottom of the fourth.
Bubba Jasinski and Philippi singled and Goncalves drew a one-out walk to load the bases.
Chris Tuttle singled to drive in Jasinski and Philippi scored on Hamlin's fielder's choice.
The Cougars made it 7-5 in the fifth when
Kenny Durling singled and scored on
Jeff Slanovec's single.
Alvernia broke the game open with five runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh.
MU, 18-17, will host Moravian Wednesday at 4:00.
