The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader at York as the Cougars took the opener, 5-3, before dropping the nightcap, 11-3.
Nicole Hoskins had three hits in game one, including a pair of doubles.
Gina Urbon had a double among her two hits and drove in two runs and
Courtney Novajosky and
Kat LaBrie both added two hits.
Novajosky, LaBrie and
Hollie Sarnak all added doubles to make a winner of
Kat Lucenti.
MU went ahead 1-0 in the top of the second when Urbon reached on a one-out single, stole second and scored on LaBrie's double to left center.
The Cougars tacked on two runs in the third. Novajosky led off with a single and moved to third when
Maria Kidron reached on an error. Sarnak drove in Novajosky on a fielder's choice and after
Nicole Wenner reached on a fielder's choice, Hoskins to doubled to right center to make it 3-0.
After York got two runs back in the bottom of the fourth, the Cougars went ahead 5-2 in the top of the fifth. Sarnak doubled with one out and advanced to third on Hoskins's two-out single.
Urbon doubled to left center to drive in two runs.
In game two,
Maria Kidron had two hits for MU and Urbon added a double. The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but York got two in the bottom half and broke the game open with three in the second and five in the third.
Novajosky led off the game with an infield single and came home on Hoskins' two-out double.
Trailing 10-1, MU got two runs in the top of the fourth. LaBrie and Lucenti both singled with one out and moved up on Novajosky's ground out. LaBrie scored on Kidron's single and Lucenti came home when Sarnak reached via erro.
Misericordia, 21-14, will wrap up the regular season at Eastern, Saturday.
