MU Drops Two at Susquehanna

The Misericordia University softball team dropped a doubleheader at Susquehanna, 10-1, 7-3, Friday.

Gina Urbon had an RBI-double in the opener and Courtney Novajosky, Caitlin Cromley and Nicole Boccia added hits.

Susquehanna jumped in front 4-0 after one inning and scored three in the second and third to take a 10-1 lead.

MU scored its lone run in the second. Boccia singled with one out and was replaced on Hoskins' fielder's choice. Hoskins stole second and scored on Urbon's double to left-center.

Kat Lucenti worked three innings and took the loss.

In the nightcap, Boccia had three hits and an RBI and Nicole Wenner had a solo homer.

Boccia and Hoskins added RBI's.

Susquehanna took a 2-0 lead in the first and added a run in the second before Wenner's solo shot made it 3-2.

The Crusaders responded with a run in the bottom of the third and tacked on three more in the fifth.

The Cougars rallied for a pair of runs in the seventh. Kidron reached on an error and Cromley followed with an infield single. Wenner was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Hoskins drove in a run on a groundout.

Urbon walked to re-load the bases and Cromley singled up the middle to make it 7-3, but the Crusaders got two groundballs to end the game.

Karissa Kross allowed five hits and four earned runs over 4.1 innings to absorb the loss in the nightcap.

MU is 9-10 and will visit FDU-Florham for a Freedom Conference twinbill, Saturday.
