The Misericordia University softball team ended the regular season with a doubleheader sweep at Eastern, 6-0, 14-0.
Kat Lucenti tossed a five-hitter in the opener and earned the win in both games.
Hollie Sarnak had a home run in the opener and
Nicole Hoskins,
Nicole Wenner and
Gina Urbon all had two hits.
MU took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth and added three more in the fifth.
Sarnak led off the fourth with a solo homer and
Nicole Hoskins walked. Pinch-runner
Maggie Hoskins advanced to third on Wenner's double and scored on Urbon's RBI-single.
Kat LaBrie made it 3-0 with a sacrifice fly to center field.
In the fifth, Sarnak reached via hit by pitch with one out and
Nicole Hoskins and Wenner singled to load the bases.
Caitlin Cromley drove in a run with a sacrifice fly and Urbon followed with another RBI-single. LaBrie ended the scoring with a run-scoring single.
In the nightcap, Wenner, Cromley, Urbon, Jillian Castaldi and Amanda Polahara all had two hits.
Maggie Hoskins had a two-run double and Jen Cory had an RBI-double off the fence.
The Cougars scored eight runs in the third and followed it up with four in the fourth.
Misericordia finished 23-14 overall and 9-5 in the Freedom. The Cougars will open the Freedom Conference playoffs against DeSales, Friday at Delaware Valley.
