The Misericordia softball season came to an end with a 3-2 loss to DeSales in the consolation final at the ECAC South Championships, Sunday at Bethany.
Gina Urbon ended her career with a three-hit performance, including a double and a solo home run.
Maria Kidron added two hits and
Hollie Sarnak and
Nicole Hoskins had MU's other hits.
Kat Lucenti scattered eight hits while absorbing the loss and finished 22-14 to tie the school record for wins in a season.
DeSales went ahead with a pair of runs in the third and tacked on another in the fourth for a 3-0 lead.
Misericordia got on the board when Urbon led off the fifth with her second homer of the season.
The Cougars made it 3-2 int he seventh when Urbond led off with a double and came home on Kidron's two-out double down the left field line. DeSales induced a popout to end the game with the tying run on second.
MU finished 28-18 in Jen Probst's first season as head coach while Urbon and senior classmates Hoskins, Lucenti,
Courtney Novajosky, Ashley Ballard and
Kristi McCluskey all concluded their collegiate careers.
