The Misericordia University softball team dropped its opening game of the Freedom Conference championships to DeSales, 10-4, Friday at Delaware Valley.
Hollie Sarnak had a double and drove in two runs for MU and
Caitlin Cromley added a solo home run.
After DeSales jumped in front 6-0 in the bottom of the first, Cromley got the Cougars on the board with a solo homer to center.
Trailing 7-1, the Cougars cut into the deficit with three runs in the fifth.
Gina Urbon led off with a walk and moved to third on
Jill Castaldi's single up the middle.
Courtney Novajosky walked to load the bases and
Maria Kidron followed with a sacrifice fly.
Sarnak doubled to center to make it 7-4.
After two quick outs in the bottom of the fifth, DeSales rallied for three runs to go in front, 10-4.
The Cougars will play the loser of King's/Manhattanville, Saturday at 9:00.
