Friends and family were on hand in anticipation of seeing
Robyn Fedor Stahovic reach the 100 win plateau as Misericordia field hockey coach.
However, Alvernia broke a 1-1 tie with a late goal to hand the Cougars a 2-1 loss and deny Stahovic of the milestone.
The Crusaders threatened early with four consecutive corners just two minutes into the game. But MU goalie
Grace Riker made three nice kick saves to thwart the challenge.
After Alvernia scored off a deflection five minutes later, the Cougars tied the score midway through the half.
Camilla Hansen finished off her own rebound to put MU on the board.
Riker came up with a diving kick save off a corner with nine minutes remaining in the half and
Emily Foley's defensive save prevented a goal with less than a minute to play in the period.
Alvernia tallied the game-winner with just under 14 minutes remaining in regulation.
MU, 2-3, will visit Cabrini, Saturday.
