Cougars Fall in Overtime at Lebanon Valley

9/29/2010 9:51:14 PM

A 99th-minute counter-attack goal gave Lebanon Valley a 2-1 victory and broke a six-game win streak for the visiting Misericordia University men's soccer team.

Sophomore Andy Bush had given MU an early lead in the 13th minute when he poked the ball home following a long throw by Chris Hummel that was flicked on by Eric Kishbaugh.

LVC equalized in the 29th minute and the scored stayed 1-1 until extra time despite some good play by the Cougars in the second half.

Bush nearly won the game in overtime but Lebanon Valley goalkeeper James Clements (11 saves) made two highlight-reel saves to deny the striker before his third attempt was cleared off the goal-line by a Dutchman defender.

Lebanon Valley made the play count, getting behind the MU defense off a long goal kick to seal the victory.

Misericordia is now 7-3 and will open Freedom Conference play on Saturday with a Homecoming match-up against old PAC rival Eastern.
