The Misericordia University Field Hockey team lost to FDU-Florham, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Samantha Sorokas (5g, 1a) had the only goal for the Cougars and
Haley Ellis (3g, 3a) added an assist.
The Cougar goal came off a corner less than 10 minutes into the game. Ellis received a pass at the top of the circle and found Sorokas who fired a shot from the right wing that deflected in off the far post.
FDU-Florham tied it on a penalty stroke at then end of the first half and took the lead on a rebound goal early in the second half.
The Cougars threatened again off four consecutive corners with
Courtney Thomas getting a shot on the last, but Devils goalie made the save.
MU mounted a late attack off a corner by
Terra Hall who found Sorokas on the left wing. Sorokas got off a rocket of a shot, but the FDU defense was there to block it and clear it away.
Misericordia, 3-8 (1-3), will play again at Catholic, Sunday at 2:00
