The Misericordia University baseball team saw its eight-game winning streak end in a tough road matchup as the Cougars fell 4-1 to Neumann, Tuesday.
Junior
Nate Hamlin led the Misericordia offense with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate.
MU scored its only run of the game in the top of the seventh, when sophomore
Kenny Durling (1-for-4) reached on an error and senior
Nate Newman (1-for-4) doubled him in.
Newman moved to third with just one out but the Cougars couldn't get him around and trailed 3-1 after the half inning. The Knights added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth.
Sopohomore
Ron Guido (1-1) made his first collegiate start after a successful spring break and took the loss despite allowing just one earned run over four-and-two-thirds innings of work.
MU is now 8-3 overall, with two of those losses coming against #2 Shenandoah and the other against a Neumann squad that also received votes in the national poll. The Cougars travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a doubleheader on Saturday.
