Hollie Sarnak homered in the ninth inning to lift the Misericordia University softball team to a 2-0 in the first game of a doubleheader at Wilkes, Thursday.

Wilkes took the nightcap, 3-0.

In the opener, Emily Hullings led off the ninth with a bunt single and Sarnak hit her team-leading seventh home run of the season to left field for the only runs of the game.

Caitlin Cromley tossed a three-hitter while striking out seven to notch her sixth shutouts.

Maria Kidron and Nicole Wenner both had hits for the Cougars who didn't get a runner past second base prior to Sarnak's homer.

Kidron led the offense with two hits in the nightcap with Hullings, Nicole Boccia and Kat LaBrie adding hits.

Cromley went the distance again, allowing eight hits while striking out three.

MU, 16-13 (6-5), will travel to Manhattanville, Monday to complete their rain-shortened doubleheader.
