Manhattanville scored the game's only run in the bottom of the ninth inning to salvage a softball split with Misericordia in a doubleheader that took 19 innings and more than a week to play.
Misericordia won the first game, 7-5, in 11 innings April 16 but the second game was rained out.
Amanda Polaha had two of Misericordia's five hits while
Hollie Sarnak, Nicole Boccia and
Caitlin Cromley all added hits.
Cromley struck out nine and allowed just five hits while absorbing the loss in 7.2 innings.
Maria Kidron reached base three times, including two walks and one hit by pitch, but she never advanced past second base.
The Cougars threatened when Sarnak led off the eighth with a single and moved to second on Cromley's two-out single, but the Valiants' pitcher recorded her third strikeout of the inning to escape the jam.
MU, 16-14 (6-6), will visit Neumann, Wednesday before hosting FDU-Florham in their Freedom Conference finale, Saturday.
