Junior Patrick Clark threw a nine-inning complete game and the Cougar offense produced a seven-run fourth as the Misericordia University baseball team won an 11-4 road game over defending Freedom Conference champion Manhattanville.
Clark (3-1) scattered four runs over nine innings of work and struck out four. He allowed just four hits and no runs over the final six frames of the contest.
Sophomore
Andrew Tressa went 4-for-6 from the plate and knocked in two runs. Freshman
Ryan Cacchioli was 3-for-6 with an RBI while senior
Nate Newman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Andres Gonzalez and
Nate Hamlin were each 2-for-5.
Down 4-0 after three, the Cougars blew the game open in the top of the fourth inning. William Minderjahn, Cacchioli and Gonzalez all registered RBI singles before Tressa's double brought home Cacchioli and
Joe Tagliarini. Gonzalez and Tressa would also score as Misericordia surged ahead 7-4.
MU added a run in the fifth as Tagliarini knocked in Hamlin, and scored three in the sixth, keyed by
Zach Myers' two-RBI double.
The Cougars win their fourth straight conference game and improve to 13-5, 4-1. MU will host Manhattanville for a doubleheader in Swoyersville, tomorrow at 1 PM.
