Delaware Valley used an eight-run fifth inning as the Misericordia University baseball team ended the Freedom Conference regular season with an 8-6 loss to the Aggies, Monday.
Zach Myers had two hits, including a double, and
Chris Tuttle added two hits while
Mike Impellittiere had a double and drove in two runs.
Josh Hippensteel added a double for MU.
The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second when Myers doubled down the left field line and
Danny Price walked before Tuttle's infield single loaded the bases.
Dylan Mazzo's infield single drove in a run and
Kyle Engebrecht made it 2-0 with a sacrifice fly to right.
The score held until the Aggies scored all eight of their runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Cougars cut into the lead with a four-run seventh. Engebrecht singled and came home one out later on Hippensteel's double.
Will Minderjahn singled and Impellettiere drove in a pair of runs with a double to left center.
After Price and DJ Kelleher walked to load the bases, Impellittiere came home on a wild pitch to make it 8-6.
Misericordia, 23-12, will conclude the regular season at Gwynedd-Mercy, Tuesday. The Cougars are the top-seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs and will face fourth-seeded King's in the opening game, Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Park in Quakertown.
