GMC Rallies Past MU in Regular Season Finale

The Misericordia University baseball team ended the regular season with an 8-4 loss at Gwynedd-Mercy, Tuesday.

Kenny Durling had three hits and Andres Gonzalez had two hits and drove in three runs.

Ryan Cacchioli, Mike Impellittiere, Andrew Tressa and Nate Newman all added two hits for the Cougars.

Freshman Rob McCarthy allowed just two unearned runs on three hits over six innings in his first collegiate start.

Misericordia led 4-2 through seven before Gwynedd-Mercy rallied for six runs in the eighth inning.

The Cougars went ahead 2-0 in the third with a two-out rally. Tressa doubled to left field before Durling, Newman and Gonzalez all followed with singles.

After GMC cut the lead in half in the fourth, the Cougars responded with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth.

Impellittiere led off with a single to right field and moved to third on Tressa's single to left field. Two outs later, Gonzalez plated two runs with a double to right center.

MU, 23-13, will face King's in the opening round of the Freedom Conference playoffs, Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Memorial park in Quakertown.
