The Misericordia University field hockey team lost Thursday's season opener at Gwynedd-Mercy, 3-1.

Samantha Sorokas scored the lone goal for MU off an assist from Hannah Harvey.

After a scoreless first half, Gwynedd-Mercy got on the board with the first of Sarah Jackson's two goals at 36:35.
Sorokas tied the score at 44:25, but the Griffins took the lead just two minutes later and added an insurance goal with 16 minutes remaining.

The Cougars will play St. Mary's, Saturday at Susquehanna.
