The Misericordia University field hockey team lost a heartbreaker to Oneonta State, 4-3, Wednesday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Haley Ellis had a goal and two assists for the Cougars and
Hannah Harvey and
Samantha Sorokas both added goals.
Sorokas scored her third goal of the season to tie the game with 17 minutes remaining, but the Red Dragons tallied the game-winner with less than three minutes to play.
Oneonta took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half and Ellis shot through the legs of a Red Dragons defender to tie the score with 11 minutes remaining in the half.
After Oneonta went up 2-1 just three minutes later, Harvey scored her second goal of the season to make it 2-2 with four minutes to play in the first half.
Grace Riker made six saves in goal for MU.
MU, 1-5, will open its Freedom Conference schedule, Saturday at DeSales.
