Thomas' Hat Trick Leads Field Hockey to First Win

Courtney Thomas (Dallas) recorded a hat trick to lead the Misericordia University field hockey team to its first win of the season, 7-0 over Albright, Sunday afternoon at Susquehanna.

Hannah Harvey, Alison Sacco and Katlyn Gabrielle scored their first collegiate goals and Haley Ellis added a goal for MU.

Kelsey DeBruyne had three assists for the Cougars and Terra Hall had two.

Haley Brandt and Rachel Smith combined on the shutout in goal.

With Albright playing short-handed the entire game due to injuries, Harvey gave MU a 1-0 lead with an assist from Hall just 1:55 into the game.

Thomas scored three goals in an eight-minute span to stretch the lead to 4-0 with just 16:28 played.

Sacco closed out the first half scoring with an unassisted goal at 31:52.

Gabrielle made it 6-0 at 49:47 and Ellis ended the scoring at 55:52.

Brandt had the only save for MU in 55 minutes in goal.

MU, 1-2, plays at Scranton, Thursday night.
