The Misericordia University women's field hockey team could never get its offense going, falling at perennial Freedom power Eastern, 8-0, Saturday afternoon in St. David's, Pa.
The Cougars held with the Eagles for the first 15 minutes, but Eastern got on the board in the 16
th minute, as Megan Bolton scored on an assist from Brittany Moyer off a corner.
Moyer then scored a pair of goals of her own in the 22
nd and 26
th minutes to extend the lead to 3-0. The Cougars gave up an own goal in the 32
nd minute to make it 4-0 at halftime.
Kelby Bolton scored two second half goals for Eastern, while Jess Jaindl and Hannah Bartholomew each added one.
Grace Riker started and made six saves in goal for the Cougars, while
Haley Brandt made three saves while playing the second half.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, hosting DeSales.
