MU Women Drop Hard-Fought Contest at #11 Leb Val

Box Score The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 76-67 decision at #11 Lebanon Valley, Saturday afternoon.

Lauren Smicherko scored 16 points to lead four MU players in double figures.  Hannah Seely had 15 points in just 21 minutes and Tyann McDaniel and Caitlin Kessler added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Smicherko had a team-high six rebounds and McDaniel added five assists.

Trailing 33-29 at halftime, the Cougars rallied to take a 58-55 lead with 6:20 remaining and led 63-61 with 4:46 to play.
Misericordia used an 8-0 run in the second half to erase a 55-50 deficit.

After Kessler made one of two free throws, Sam Baro grabbed an offensive rebound and sank a short jumper to get MU within two, 55-53, with 7:10 to go.

Seely tied it with a fast break layup and McDaniel put the Cougars ahead, 58-55, with a three-pointer.

Another Kessler free throw put MU ahead 59-57, but Lebanon Valley scored four straight to go up, 61-59.

Kessler made a jumper to tie it at 61 and Baro's blocked shot led to a jumper by Smicherko to give MU their final lead, 63-61, with 4:46 remaining.

The Dutchmen scored eight straight points before a bucket by Smicherko got MU within four, 69-65, with 1:31 left.

Leb Val closed the game with an 8-2 spurt over the final 70 seconds.

Misericordia, 5-3, will host Susquehanna, Wednesday at 6:00.
