The Misericordia University baseball team split a doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark, Saturday.
After Rutgers-Newark rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the opener, 7-6, the Cougars scored nine runs in the top of the first to take the nightcap, 15-2.
Kenny Durling had a two-run homer in the first game while
Joe Tagliarini and
Bubba Jasinski had two hits each while
Mike Impellittiere drove in two runs.
Jasinski and Impellittiere both had doubles while
Ryan Cacchioli added a triple.
Durling had two doubles and drove in four runs to lead a 12-hit attack in the nightcap. Jasinski had two hits, including a homer, and drove in two while Tagliarini and
Gabe Noyalis both had two hits.
Nate Hamlin had two RBI and
Andrew Tressa scored three runs.
Evan Robaczewski worked four innings to earn the win with relief help from
Shane McGraw,
Max Weintraub and
Justin Shuleski.
Misericordia is 3-1.
