The Misericordia University softball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Marywood, 10-9, 11-5, Saturday afternoon.
Caitlin Cromley picked up the win in the opener and aided her own cause with three hits while
Mallory Getts had two hits and scored four runs.
Amanda Polaha had two hits and drove in two runs while
Kristi Seiler and
Jill Castaldi added two hits.
Megan Hardy added a pair of RBI.
The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first in the opener on an RBI-single by LaBrie and Hardy's fielder's choice.
Misericordia added three more in the second on a fielder's choice by Getts and Polaha's bunt single.
The Cougars tacked on two more in the fourth thanks to Seiler's run-scoring triple.
Polaha had an RBI-double to make it 9-2 in the fifth.
After Marywood rallied for five runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on Hare's sacrifice fly.
The Cougars used a nine-run sixth inning to win the nightcap to make a winner of
Jess Armillay.
Cromley added three more hits and drove in two while Getts,
Kat LaBrie and
Sam Hare all had two hits.
Trailing 4-2, the Cougars put together an eight-hit rally in the top of the sixth.
Cromley singled with one out and moved to third on Seiler's single before coming home on LaBrie's single. Hare followed with an RBI-single and Hardy added an RBI-grounder.
Castaldi and Polaha both singled and Cromley tripled to right center and scored on an overthrow to complete the frame.
Misericordia is 5-7 and will host Delaware Valley in their Freedom Conference opener, Tuesday at Anderson Field.
