The Misericordia University baseball team defeated Scranton, 9-0, Wednesday evening at Roosevelt Field.
Pete Doggett pitched six shutout innings with six strikeouts and
Kenny Durling went 2-4 with a triple and two RBI.
After scoring a run off an error in the first, Durling laid down a bunt to the left side to score
Ryan Cacchioli and take a 2-0 lead after two innings of play.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth, Cacchioli was hit by a pitch to plate
Jeff Slanovec and bring
Joe Tagliarini to the plate. Tagliarini and Durling both sacrificed to right to drive in
Chris Tuttle and
Nate Hamlin. With runners on second and third,
Bubba Jasinski singled to left to drive in
Andrew Tressa and Cacchioli to make it 7-0 after four.
In the fifth, Tuttle scored on a Cacchioli single. Durling ripped a triple to left center to bring up
Zach Myers. Myers hit an infield single to plate Durling and cap off the scoring.
Brandon Barber,
Ron Guido and
Matt Karabin all pitched in relief and struck one batter out each.
The Cougars are now 14-2 and will host Freedom Conference opponent, Manhattanville, Friday at 3:30.
