The Misericordia University softball team swept Neumann with a pair of last-at-bat 11-10 wins, Thursday at Anderson Field.
The Cougars scored one in the bottom of the ninth to take the first game and rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to win the second game which was shortened because of darkness.
In the opener, Jen Cory had three hits and drove in four runs, including the game-winner, and
Caitlin Cromley and
Kristi Seiler both had two hits and drove in two runs.
Cromley had three hits and four RBI in the nightcap and
Mallory Getts had three hits and scored three runs.
Cory had two hits and two RBI and
Schyler Yatsko and
Megan Hardy hit back-to-back homers in the bottom of the fifth.
Cory singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth in the opener after the Cougars rallied from a two-run deficit in the eighth.
Jill Castaldi had a sacrifice fly in the eighth and Cromley tied the game with an RBI on an infield grounder.
The Cougars forced extra-innings with two runs in the bottom of the seventh on back-to-back RBI-doubles from Cromley and
Kristi Seiler.
Trailing 10-5 heading into the bottom of the fifth in game two, the Cougars rallied for six runs to pull out the win.
Yatsko led off with a homer and Hardy followed a solo shot of her own to make it 10-7.
Shawnna Beil tripled and scored on Cory's single.
Castaldi singled and an misplay in the outfield put runners at second and third.
Getts singled to drive in Cory and Castaldi scored the tying run on a passed ball.
Getts advanced to third on a ground out and Cromley was intentionally walked to put runners at the corners.
Seiler drove in the game-winning run on a fielder's choice to end the game.
Misericordia, 14-8, will travel to FDU-Florham, Saturday.
