The Misericordia baseball team improved to 6-1 after defeating Ursinus, 4-3, Monday evening in Ft. Pierce Florida.
Justin Shuleski got the win without two shutout innings of relief and
Gabe Noyalis worked the ninth inning to earn the save.
Nate Hamlin went 2-4 with an RBI and
Bubba Jasinski drove in two.
Joe Tagliarini added two hits and
Ryan Cacchioli scored twice.
Matt Karabin got the start on the mound and struck out eight over six innings. He scattered five hits and didn't allow an earned run.
MU took a 1-0 lead in the top of first when Cacchioli ripped a two-out single down the left field line and advanced to second on an error.
Kenny Durling doubled to left field to drive in Cacchioli.
The Cougars made it 2-0 on three consecutive singles in the second inning. Tagliarini singled down the left field line and moved to second on
Paul Shepherd's single to right. Hamlin singled to bring in Tagliarini.
After Ursinus scored three runs with two outs to take a 3-2 lead in the fifth, MU tied it in the top of the sixth.
Cacchioli led off with a walk and moved to second on Durling's fly out to center field. Cacchioli moved to third on a wild pitch and came home on Jasinski's sacrifice fly to center.
Misericordia scored the game-winning run in the top of the eight when
Dylan Mazzo led off with a single and pinch-runner
Will Minderjahn moved to second on Cacchioli's sacrifice bunt.
Minderjahn advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on Jasinski's single to center field.
The Cougars will play Lebanon Valley, Tuesday morning.
