The Misericordia baseball team defeated DeSales, 4-1, at Roosevelt Field, Friday afternoon.

Evan Robaczewski pitched a five hit, five strikeout complete game to earn the win, and Jeff Slanovec and Nate Hamlin went 1-4 with a run scored and an RBI.

The pitchers battled it out through the first six and a half innings allowing three hits between them. Then in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and Bryce Frankenfield on third, Jeff Slanovec ripped a double down the left field line to put the Cougars on the board first.  Nate Hamlin then singled through the left side to plate Slanovec.  DSU proceeded to walk the bases loaded and walk in two runs to give MU a 4-0 lead after six innings of play.

In the top of the ninth, DeSales had runners on first and second with two outs.  A ball was hit deep to center field but Kenny Durling tracked it down and made a running catch before running into the wall to end the game.

The Cougars improved to 25-4 (11-2) and are now tied with DeSales for the Freedom Conference lead with DeSales.  MU will face the Bulldogs in a doubleheader in Center Valley, Saturday.
