The Misericordia University baseball team tied the school record for wins (30-6, 16-3) after defeating Eastern, 18-15, Friday evening in St. David's

Kenny Durling went 3-5 with two home runs and five RBI, Ryan Cacchioli went 4-6 with four RBI and three runs and Evan Robaczewski earned the win on the mound

MU opened the scoring in the top of the second when Cacchioli and Bubba Jasinski both singled to put runners at the corners with one out.  Chris Tuttle singled down the left field line to plate Cacchioli and take an early 1-0 lead.

In the top of the third, Jeff Slanovec loaded the bases with a one-out bunt and Nate Hamlin grounded into a fielder's choice to score Dylan Mazzo and go up by two.  Cacchioli singled to center to score two more, and a passed ball put runners on second and third with one out.  Jasinski then singled to left to score Cacchioli.

A walk loaded the bases and three runs scored on an error and a wild pitch to bring Durling to the plate with two runners on.  He blasted a home run to left center to take a 12-0 lead after two and a half innings of play.

The Eagles scored three in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the fourth to make it 12-5 after four, in favor of the Cougars.

In the top of the fifth, Durling hit another two-run homer to left center to go up by nine.  Cacchioli singled and advanced to second on a wild pitch to set up Jasinski who singled to plate Cacchioli.  Tuttle singled to put runners on first and second and Joe Tagliarini singled to left to score Jasinski and go up 16-5 after five.

In the top of the sixth, two batters were hit by pitches and a walk loaded the bases with one out.  Cacchioli singled to right center to drive in two more and go up 18-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

Eastern scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Gabe Noyalis came in with one runner on and forced a ground ball to finish the game and earn the save.

The Cougars will host Eastern for a double-header on Senior Appreciation Day, Saturday at Roosevelt Field.
