The Misericordia University softball rallied for an 8-7 extra inning win in the opener against Wilkes.
Kristi Seiler led the Cougars with three hits and four RBI, including a game-winning double in the bottom of the eighth.
Jill Castaldi had two hits and two RBI and
Megan Hardy added two hits.
Laykin Hughes led Wilkes with four RBI on a pair of homers. Jordan Borger had two hits, including a homer, and Jessalyn Paveletz had a two-run homer.
Trailing 7-3, Misericordia rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.
Amanda Polaha drew a lead-off walk and pinch-runner
Amber Woodling moved to third on
Caitlin Cromley's double to right center.
Seiler singled to right center to make it 7-5 and Hardy singled up the middle with one out. Jen Cory reached on fielder's choice when Hardy beat the play at second base to keep MU alive.
Castaldi dropped a single into left field to tie the score.
In the top of the eighth, Castaldi threw the potential go-ahead run out at home and Cromley worked out a base loaded jam with an inning-ending 1-2-3 double play.
Polaha led off the eighth with a walk and moved to second on Cromley's sacrifice before Seiler lined the game-winning hit to the fence in right center.
In game two Seiler went 3-4 with three RBI, including a walk-off three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Wilkes jumped on top early with a McGrath double, a pair of MU errors and Hughes RBI single to take a 4-0 lead.
MU answered when Cromley hit a two-run homer over the center field fence. Seiler doubled to right center and LaBrie singled to put runners on the corners. After LaBrie advanced to second on a ground out, Cory hit an RBI single and gave MU a 5-4 lead after one inning.
McGrath hit another RBI single to tie it in the top half of the second. In the bottom half, Polaha singled and Cromley reached on an error to put runners on first and second with one out. Polaha scored on an error and Hardy ripped a double to left field to plate two runners and take an 8-5 lead after the second inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, Cory tripled to right field and
Amber Woodling reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. Getts doubled to score both runners and Cromley doubled to score Getts. Seiler then hit a three-run walk-off home run to put MU up by eight and complete the sweep.
MU improved to 17-9 (6-2) and Wilkes fell to 4-12 (1-6). MU will be in action again when they face Scranton, Wednesday, and the Colonels will host FDU-Florham on Wednesday.
