Softball to Face King's in First Round of Freedom Championships

The Misericordia softball team will open post-season play with a game against King's in the first-round of the Freedom Championships, Friday at 1:00 at Manhattanville with the winner playing the winner of the Manhattanville vs. Eastern game.

MU is the number two seed in the tournament after a 25-15 (10-4) regular season, finishing tied for the lead in the Freedom Conference.

Misericordia and King's split the regular season meeting.

The Cougars are second in the Freedom in hits (223), RBI (201) and home runs (28).

Freshman Kristi Seiler was named Freedom Rookie of the Year and named first team All-Freedom.  She finished the regular season with a .387 batting average and led the team with 14 doubles and 37 RBI.
 
Caitlin Cromley was named second team All-Freedom as a pitcher, but she also enjoyed a successful year in the batter's box. 

On the mound, she led the conference in wins with a record of 15-8 and led the team in both batting average (.392) and ERA (3.02).  She accumulated 28 RBI on 51 hits, including nine doubles and eight homers.

Amanda Polaha hit .362 with 17 RBI and two homers and led the team with a field percentage of .990 with only two errors at first base.

Senior Jill Castaldi was named second team All-Freedom after hitting .295 with 16 RBI.  Kat LaBrie hit .318 with eight doubles and Mallory Getts hit .304 with 42 hits and nine doubles.

King's finished the season with a 28-10 (10-4) record and is seeded third in tournament.
