The Misericordia University men's soccer team found itself in an early hole for the third straight game and was unable to come back, falling at Arcadia, 2-1, Saturday night.
Rob Wiacek scored his first goal of the season for the Cougars (3-3), and
Andy Bush had an assist, but it wasn't enough to keep MU from dropping it's third straight.
The game was quiet for the majority of the first half, with each team managing just one shot through the first 42 minutes. However, in the 43
rd minute, Arcadia's Alex Wells took a pass from John Pacana and beat Cougars' keeper
Dan Fritz to give the Knights a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Knights (3-1-2) wasted little time increasing their lead, as Joe Bertucci scored a much-needed insurance goal in the 48
th minute.
Following a pair of MU corner kicks, Wiacek took a ball from Bush to score his first goal of the season, cutting the Arcadia lead to just one goal. However, the Cougars only managed to put one more shot on goal in the half- a 90
th minute strike by
Nick Ferguson that was saved by Knights' goalkeeper Ryan Lantzy.
The Cougars will look to get back on track on Tuesday, when they host Scranton at 7:30 PM.
