The Misericordia University women's field hockey team couldn't hold on to an early lead and fell to #8 Catholic, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
Freshman
Lindsay Hischak scored an early goal for the Cougars (2-9)- her third of the season- off an assist from
Terra Hall in the third minute to put MU up 1-0.
The Cougar defense withstood a strong attack for much of the first half, but Colleen Harwood- who finished the day with two goals and three assists- got the Cardinals on the board in the 17th minute to tie the score at one.
In the 25th minute, Harwood found teammate Haley Wright, who one-timed it past Cougar keeper
Grace Riker to give Catholic a 2-1 lead.
From there, Catholic controlled the game, as Kiera McGovern scored just 22 seconds into the second half, and Wright and Harwood each added their second goal to push the game out of reach.
Riker made 15 saves in goal for the Cougars against a very strong Cardinal attack.
MU returns to action on Wednesday when they host William Paterson at 5:00 PM.
