10/19/2013 2:37:00 PM

Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey team attempted just nine total shots but put three goals on the board en route to a 3-1 win over visiting Eastern on Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.

With the win, the Cougars move to 5-10 overall but 3-1 in Freedom Conference play while Eastern drops to 6-9 and 1-3.

The Cougars scored twice in the first half, first at six minutes in when Rebecca Hindman put one in the back of the cage. Hindman's goal was created by Lindsday Hischak, who outraced the Eagles down the field, putting herself in position for a backhand shot. When she lost the handle, the trailing Hindman was right there to pick it up and put it past Eagle keeper Kylie Jones.

Misericordia added another goal at 24 minutes when Allie Elmes rifled a shot from 15 yards out.

MU took a commanding three goal lead at the 38 minute mark when Hischak's shot was saved, but the rebound was picked up by Jennifer O'Neill. Hischak's two assists on the day give her 28 points on the season.

Eastern scored in the 56th minute against Cougar keeper, Angela Pasquini. Pasquini contributed 16 saves in the winning effort.

MU is back in action on Oct. 23 at DeSales.
