Box Score Although their Freedom Conference finale didn't go their way, there is good news for the Misericordia University field hockey team.
Despite losing at Wilkes, 4-1, Tuesday night, the Cougars clinched a Freedom Conference championships berth.
Wilkes built a 3-1 halftime lead and added an insurance goal midway through the second half and both teams finished in a four-way tie for second place in the Freedom at 4-3.
After the Colonels took a 1-0 lead just 2:08 into the game,
Lindsay Hischak tied it on an assist from
Allie Elmes at 11:34.
Wilkes responded with two goals, including one with less than 30 seconds to play in the first half.
The Cougars came out swarming in the second half and had a few quality scoring chances early in the period.
Wilkes, however, made the most of an opportunity on a counter attack to go ahead 4-1 at 47:45.
MU held a 12-10 advantage in shots while both teams had eight corners.
Angela Pasquini made four saves in goal.
Misericordia, 6-12 overall, will close out the regular season with a non-conference tilt against Albright, Thursday at 4:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
The Cougars will open the Freedom Conference championships, Wednesday, November 6.
