Box Score The Misericordia University women's basketball team fell to Muhlenberg, 77-54, in the championship game of the Scotty Wood Tournament, Saturday evening in Allentown.
Hannah Seely led the Cougars in scoring for the second straight game with 15 points while
Lauren Smicherko added 14 points. Both players were named to the All-Tournament team.
Freshman
Justine Seely had her second straight double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The teams battled back-and-forth throughout the first half with
Sam Baro's layup giving MU a 20-19 lead with 8:02 to play in the first half.
Justine Seely gave the Cougars a 22-21 lead, but the Mules closed the half on a 14-5 spurt to take a 35-27 lead at halftime.
Trailing 42-30 early in the second, Smicherko converted five free throws and
Hannah Seely added a bucket as the Cougars got within 42-39 with 15:41 remaining.
Hannah Seely converted a steal into a steal into a layup to keep the deficit at three, 44-41, with 14:32 to go, but Muhlenberg scored 12 unanswered points to take 56-41 lead with less than 10 minutes to play.
The Cougars never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
MU, 1-1, will host Lebanon Valley in their home opener, Tuesday.
