Box Score The Misericordia University field hockey season came to a heartbreaking end with a 2-1 overtime loss at Wilkes in the Freedom Championship game, Saturday night.
Rebecca Hindman gave the Cougars an early lead, but Wilkes used two penalty strokes to improve to 8-11 and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Angela Pasquini made 12 saves in goal for the Cougars who finished 8-13.
After Wilkes had a shot off a penalty corner that was saved by Pasquini, the Cougars raced to the other end with
Lindsay Hischak feeding Hindman for a 1-0 lead just 3:48 into the game.
Pasquini and the MU defense made the goal stand up until Wilkes' Ashley Ream tied the score on a penalty stroke with 8:55 to play in regulation.
Hischak had the first shot of overtime at 12:29, but it was wide of the goal.
Wilkes earned a corner with 9:55 and Ashley Hahn converted the ensuing stroke for the win with 9:38 to go in OT.
