Marywood Rallies Past Misericordia

Box Score Marywood University charged back from a 16-point second half deficit to remain undefeated with an 83-72 win over Misericordia in non-conference women's basketball action, Monday night at the Insalaco Center.

The Cougars took a 57-42 lead with 13:36 remaining, but the Pacers closed the game on a 42-15 run.

Marywood remains unbeaten at 7-0 while Misericordia closed the first semester at 4-4.

Hannah Seely and Sam Baro led the Cougars with 14 points each while Lauren Smicherko added 12.  Nikki Baro and Amanda Greene both had 10 points for Misericordia.

Misericordia led by six at halftime and Greene's layup gave the Cougars a 10-point cushion, 49-39, just four minutes into the second half.

Sam Baro followed with a layup and Greene drained a shot from just inside the arc for a 53-49 advantage.

Greene added another jumper for a 55-39 lead with 14:30 to play.

Misericordia led 63-53 with just under eight minutes remaining, but the Pacers scored 14 unanswered points over a four-minute span to take a 66-63 lead and never trailed again.

Hannah Seely scored 12 first-half points on 6-8 shooting in just eight minutes of action.

Smicherko also had 12 first-half points while Sam Baro added eight points.

After quickly falling behind 5-2, the Cougars scored 10 straight points to take a 12-5 lead.

Hannah Seely and Sam Baro made back-to-back layups to put the Cougars ahead and Smicherko sank a pair of free throws for an 8-5 lead less than three minutes into the game.

Hannah Seely followed with two straight buckets to end the spurt.

Sam Baro responded to two Marywood baskets with a jumper for a 14-9 lead and Hannah Seely's jumper made it 16-11.

The Pacers scored five straight points to tie it, 16-16, but Hannah Seely put the Cougars back in front, 18-16.

Marywood pulled ahead, 25-22, but the Cougars went back in front, 26-25, on jumpers from Justine Seely and Smicherko.

Shannon Croasdale sank a pair of free throws for a 28-25 lead and Amanda Greene's jumper stretched the lead to 36-30.

The Pacers pulled within two, but Smicherko and Sam Baro both made layups in the final minute for a 40-34 halftime lead.

Misericordia returns to action at Otterbein (OH), December 28.
